Why Airbrush Spray Tanning?
The National Cancer Institute warns against any type of tanning, but especially artificial tanning done in tanning beds. In fact, the NCI notes that people who use a tanning bed only once per month put themselves at a 55 percent higher risk of contraction malignant melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. If you love the bronzed look of a tan, but aren’t willing to sacrifice your health for it, air brush spray tanning may be a better choice. The tan sits on top of the skin, so it is a safe way to get a tan. If you’re considering a spray tan, understanding how it works can help you feel more comfortable with the procedure.
Our Airbrush Spray Tanning is a great way to get a tan without the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays. Our formula is designed to last for 5 to 7 days, with great results. Your tan is sprayed onto your skin by a trained professional, concentrating on all of the areas that are normally darkened by the sun, and avoiding areas that would make your tan look “fake.” Our technicians take great care to make sure your tan is a good color for your skin tone and is applied in a way to make it look as natural as possible. The darker you tan naturally, the darker you can expect your skin to get from a tanning solution.
How To Prepare for your Spray Tan
The first step to ensuring a great sunless tan is to exfoliate the skin. For best results, please scrub your skin 48 hours prior to the tan. The skin needs to be clean and free from dead skin cells in order to alleviate uneven distribution. If a client has soft, supple skin, he or she probably doesn’t need to exfoliate as much. If he or she has naturally dry skin exfoliation is the key to getting an even, all-over tan. The day of your tan application the skin must be clean and free of any residue from deodorants, lotions or perfumes.
For best results, avoid waxing, facials and using oils for any body treatments the day of the tan. If you do have another spa service, please advise the therapist and ask that they use lotion, not oil on your body.
Spray tanning is great for someone with Vitiligo and/or freckles to help even out the areas. It will not cover up entirely but helps to blend and enhance the skins natural colors and tones.
